Organising your Startershop

There are five customer sections (or levels) to your Startershop:

Sea & Sky colour scheme

  1. Your homepage Page. This page welcomes your customers to your Startershop. It contains clear navigation, a welcome statement, and you can use it to highlight special offers or best selling products. Links to useful information like your contact info, About Us information and so on are on the left.
  2. Product Categories. Each section, or category, appears as a "tab", which looks like a tabbed card index system. You have one Home Page tab, plus five product tabs, then the Basket and Checkout tabs. Clicking on the tabs allow your customers to easily move between your categories. You decide how many product category tabs you want, and what they are called.
  3. Individual Product Screens. Your products are listed in your categories (although you may optionally have some listed on your home page). Each product has a picture (when you upload the image we automatically resize it for optimal download speeds), a name or title, a short description (for when the product appears in a listing) and a detailed description. Each product has it's own unique page on your Startershop, this is important for people linking to your products and for Search Engines understanding your web shop. When your customers click on a product link (or picture) in a category tab, they will go to the products unique detail page. Each product page has more information about the product and an opportunity to view a larger image by clicking on the picture.
  4. A shopping Basket. This is an easy to use page showing your customers which products they have bought, what the shipping costs are. It is important to web customers to easily see all the costs before buying.
  5. Checkout. The checkout process on Startershop is streamlined and easy to use, it collects all the information you need about billing and delivery, and allows your customer to pay with credit and debit cards, or by cheque (if you allow this), or through PayPal.

Additionally you have access to controls that will allow you to not only add and remove products and change all their details, but you can also set delivery costs or enter weights and let the system automatically add the up-to-date Post Office cost for delivery.

When we first create your Startershop we password protect it, so that you can organise your store before allowing the public access to it. When you are happy with the organistion and display of your Startershop you will be able to request the activation of your store.
